Alkali Scientific Cetrimide Agar 10mL 60 x 15 mm Filter Plate, 10/Pk
Cetrimide Agar is a selective and differential medium formulated for the isolation and presumptive identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Each 60 × 15 mm filter plate contains 10 mL of agar designed to accommodate membrane filtration methods used in water and beverage microbiology testing. The medium contains cetrimide, a quaternary ammonium compound that inhibits many gram positive bacteria and competing gram negative organisms. Magnesium chloride and potassium sulfate stimulate production of characteristic pigments including pyocyanin and pyoverdin. Colonies of Pseudomonas aeruginosa typically appear blue green and may exhibit fluorescence under UV light. These distinctive characteristics allow microbiologists to rapidly detect and confirm the presence of this organism in environmental, pharmaceutical, and water quality samples.

M Heterotrophic Plate Count (m HPC) Agar in a 60 × 15 mm format is designed for enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in potable water, recreational water, and wastewater using the membrane filtration technique. Each plate contains approximately 10 mL of nutrient rich agar optimized to support growth of a wide range of environmental microorganisms. The formulation contains peptone and gelatin which provide readily available sources of nitrogen and carbon. These nutrients help recover stressed or chlorine injured bacteria that may be present in treated water systems. Heterotrophic plate count testing is widely used as a general indicator of microbiological water quality. Elevated HPC levels can indicate distribution system problems, bacterial regrowth, or inefficiencies in filtration or disinfection processes.

M Heterotrophic Plate Count (m HPC) Agar is a nutrient rich culture medium formulated for the enumeration of heterotrophic bacteria in water samples using the membrane filtration method. Each plate contains approximately 20 mL of agar that supports growth of a wide range of microorganisms requiring organic carbon sources. The formulation includes peptones and gelatin that provide nitrogen and carbon nutrients, enabling recovery of stressed or chlorine injured bacteria that might not grow on less supportive media. Heterotrophic plate count testing is commonly used to evaluate overall microbiological quality of drinking water, recreational water, and treated wastewater. Elevated counts may indicate distribution system issues, ineffective disinfection, or microbial regrowth in storage systems.

LB Agar, Miller, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and propagating E. coli. LB Agar, Miller contains twice the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Lennox formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Miller plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance.
